Three Generations, One Passion

Eyewear
with a Legacy
And a lot of personality.
Abasa Optical is a piece of Davie Street history. Since opening in 1984 (and setting up shop on Davie in 1990), we’ve always been more than just an eyewear boutique. We’re a family-run operation, a community hub, and the place where Vancouverites come to find frames that feel like them.
Our founder, Abdeali, was more than an incredible optician—he was an artist, a craftsman, and a visionary who believed eyewear should be personal, never generic.
That belief shaped Abasa, and for nearly four decades, we’ve been matching faces with frames that speak their language.

Meet the Abasa Family
Anar - The Bean Counter
The one making sure everything runs smoothly. A licensed optician and content lens fitter, ace frame adjuster, and the queen of keeping things in check.
Azra - The Personality
Licensed optician, contact lens fitter, and the heartbeat of the room. Azra isn’t just here to help with frames—though she’s great at that, too. She’s the one who’ll chat your ear off (in the best way), then hand you your glasses like it’s no big deal.
A mix of eyewear experts, frame stylists & personality-packed perfectionists.
Adam - The Charmer
Attention to detail? Check. Quality control? Check. Bringing fresh energy and modern style to Abasa? Absolutely.
Raisa - The Artiste
The ultimate frame whisperer.
If you’re looking for something outside the box, a custom modification, or the perfect lens for a tricky prescription, Raisa’s got you.

Built on Community
We’re a staple of Davie Street, a family-run business with deep roots in the community and a place where everyone is welcome. Founded by two sisters—women of colour, immigrants, and members of the LGBTQ+ community—Abasa was built on the belief that eyewear should be as unique as the people who wear it.
From supporting independent designers to creating a space where everyone feels at home, we’ve spent decades making sure our boutique reflects the vibrant, diverse community we serve.
Abasa has always been more than just an eyewear boutique.
